Lost or Stolen Cards

Lost Cards:
If your card has been lost, immediately report it (you will need to create a log-in -- click on "I'm New Here" right below the UNM ID # field).  After a card has been reported lost, all financial activity will be suspended, and the card will no longer function.  Unfortunately, there is no way to de-activate access control functions online.  Please call the LoboCard Office to turn off access control.

If your active card is returned to the LoboCard Office, you will be notified at the email address listed in the UNM directory. Additional lost & found locations are University Police and the SUB information desk, the libraries Johnson Gym, etc.

Replacement IDs can be purchased by visiting the LoboCard Office during regular office hours. Please bring a government-issued photo ID, your UNM ID number, as well as a replacement fee.

Stolen Cards:
If your card has been stolen, immediately report it (you will need to create a log-in -- click on "I'm New Here" right below the UNM ID # field). After a card has been reported missing, all financial activity will be suspended, and the card will no longer function.  Unfortunately, there is no way to de-activate access control functions online.  Please call the LoboCard Office to turn off access control.  Stolen cards should also be reported to the appropriate law enforcement agency.

Effective July 1 2012, stolen LoboCards will no longer be replaced free of charge.  Appropriate replacement fees will apply.

Note: if you are unable to produce a valid form of identification due to theft, please visit the LoboCard Office for information on obtaining a new LoboCard.

Damaged Cards:
Damaged cards will be replaced with a  $10 damage fee.  Active cards that no longer function due to normal wear and tear may be swapped out with no charge at the discretion of the LoboCard Office.

To ensure proper card function (and avoid the damage fee):

  • Do protect your card from excessive heat.
  • Do protect your card from becoming demagnetized by avoiding contact with electromagnetic equipment, such as cell phones, TVs, speakers, microwaves, and iPods.
  • Don't bend, fold, or otherwise mutilate your card; this means don't carry it in your back pocket.
  • Don't let pets or children chew on your card.
  • Don't use your card as an ice scraper or lock pick.
  • Don't punch holes in your card. The Lobo Card Office can safely punch a hole in your card for you, and/or provide you with a card holder.
